Essential Questions

1. Why is it important to identify safety issues and to safely operate equipment utilized in the classroom? So you can protect yourself and others and you know of the dangers in your workplace.
2. How do interpersonal employability skills effect both your everyday life and your future? Good employability skills are also good skills to have in every day life, not just in the office. Being on time, polite, and dependable are a few.
3.What is graphic design and why is it important to communicate visually? Graphic design is creating an image with pictures and text that appeals, it also sends a message. It is important because communicating visually is the biggest form of communication.
4. What is a vector-based design and how is it created?   Use of points, lines, shapes, curves, and polygons to represent images in computer graphics. Vector graphics are created using the pen tool on illustrator. 
5.  What is a vector-based design and how is it created? Vector images are images created by using vectors, or mathematical instructions for directions and proportions to create paths and strokes. 
6. How is color used effectively in graphic design? Color, in graphic design, is used to make you see or feel an image in a certain way.  An understanding of color theory helps to choose the right colors. 
7. What is a raster-based image and how is it created? Raster based images are composed of pixels, they are used in Photoshop. Theses images are made by "painting' the photo. 
8. How does the manipulation of size and resolution effect digital images? The higher the resolution, the more clear the photo will be. Making a small photo bigger that doesn't have the proper DPI will distort the photo .

10. What is the function of type within a design? Type with design is an added visual to give the design more than just pictures and colors. It offers an additional way for visual communication and transferring ideas to communicate effectively. 
11. How do designers use a page layout program?A page layout program is there to give you support with your concept. If you have an idea, but don't know how to transfer it, a page layout program can give you the foundation for you to apply your idea. 
12. What steps does a designer take to design a page layout for concept to final product? There are five main steps a designer will take, these steps are part of the design process. First, research your main idea, then brainstorm ideas for creating a concept, then sketch ideas for your layout, next come execute all your ideas to create and overall visual, last critique and review. 
13. What are the key developments in the history of visual communication? How did these developments shape our industry? They key developments in visual communication are written languages and alphabets, printing presses, cameras, and computers. They things have all got us to wear we are today and we all use some form of the mentioned types of visual communication everyday.    
14. What careers are available within the field of graphic design? What professional organizations are associated with the industry? Many careers are available within the field of graphic design such as web designer, illustrator, computer animation, etc. Some organizations that are associated with the industry are AIGA, SPD, and APA.
15. What is a logotype and how is it created? A logo that has typography with it.
